"Yes…" There was no way Harrod was going to deny this and could only accept his fate.

Chase's expression darkened. "You're suspended from your position starting this very second. You and your nephew will undergo investigation in the meantime, which I will see to personally and no mercy will be shown."

Harrod nearly fainted at the words.

The thought of Chase finding out about his little schemes in the past and the consequences that were to come was too much for Harrod. With that, he keeled over and fell unconscious.

Bernie finally realized that he had messed up big time, and his legs began to wobble.

Chase had only brought one other person with him, but the power that radiated off him was undeniable.

With the way Harrod was looking, Bernie knew that the arrival of this guy implied that he was done for.

Just then, the secretary behind Chase looked at the officers Harrod had come with. "What are you waiting for? Take these two where they need to be. You lot are going to undergo investigation too and will be severely punished if I find anything."

The officers did not dare to waste a second. They lifted Harrod off the floor, dragging Bernie away as well before leaving.

At the same time, Bernie's two friends took the opportunity to sneak away. Neither of them dared to stay in the cafe for a second longer.

Chase said, "I truly am sorry for what happened. I've got some faults in having bastards like these in my department."

Gordon merely looked at Wilbur.

Wilbur chuckled. "You've got so many people in that department of yours. It's hard to watch over everyone at once. I'm glad on behalf of the citizens that you were able to handle this in time. Thank you, Mister Brigado."

"Oh, please don't say that." Chase heaved a sigh of relief as well. He understood what Gordon looking at Wilbur had meant.

It was obvious that this wouldn't be over if Wilbur refused to let the situation go, and that would mean trouble for Chase.

Yet in front of those two men just now, Harrod had looked nothing but pathetic.

A long time later, the cafe owner mumbled to himself, "Seems like I ran into gods today."

Wilbur and Gordon chatted as they strolled back to Castlebury. The pair confirmed their plans for the night with each other, before heading back to their homes.

Wilbur fell deep into thought after returning home, sitting in his living room. But it was not what happened just now that he was thinking about.

A long while later, he got a pen and paper and began writing. That lasted until the evening.

Faye returned from work to see Wilbur writing away, to which she was quite surprised. "Boss, what's this? Are you planning to become a writer?"

"Why did you call me that, and why did you say that?" Wilbur glared at her. "I'm going to the Graysons' for dinner tonight. I can't just go empty-handed."
