It was just as Duncan had said. She was deliberately angering The Swordsman to mess with his emotions.

Atlas spoke abruptly. “Did you guys notice anything odd about Mireille just now?”

That stunned both Melody and Finn. They had purposely avoided looking at Mireille just now to avoid raising Duncan’s suspicions and had not noticed anything amiss about her.

Eric replied, “She’s under a hypnotic talisman’s control!”

A shocked look appeared on Melody’s face. “Hypnotic talisman? Control?”

Eric nodded and explained, “The hypnotic talisman is one of Peter’s inventions. The evil energy inside the talisman will eat away at the mind of whoever wears it, and they will obey all their master’s commands. Duncan is probably the master!”

Melody and Finn sighed and lowered their heads.

Felicity’s face turned pale, and tears of self-blame rolled down her cheeks.

All this had happened because she had lost the scepter.

If she had taken a private plane or allowed Angelica to escort her to Royal Bay, this may have never happened.

Melody let out a bitter-sounding laugh. “It’s like going for wool and coming back shorn!”

A glint appeared in Eric’s eyes as he said, “Her plan wasn’t a total failure. I could sense the presence of the protective talisman I made for her on her body. The hypnotic talisman won’t be able to gain full control over her mind if she’s wearing that protective talisman!”

As the sun set…

The evening glow shone across Sigur Cliff.

Martial artists spectating nearby had already set up high-quality cameras.

They were waiting for Nash and The Swordsman to fight it out on Sigur Cliff.

Some of the more impatient martial artists had already begun whispering amongst themselves.

“Why hasn’t Nash arrived yet? Is he chickening out?”

“Don’t be silly. Nash was the one who initiated this battle. Why would he chicken out at the last minute?”

“Exactly. Besides, Nash is Master Calcraft’s disciple. Wouldn’t he be dishonoring Master Calcraft by backing out of a battle at the last minute?”

“...”

“Chop chop chop!”

The sounds of rotor blades sounded through the sky.

Though he technically ranked higher on the hierarchy, his skills were much lower in comparison to theirs. Hence, it made sense to be respectful.

Bobby had donned a tux that day, and he shoved his hands into his pockets as he gave Lloyd a careless glance, a nonchalant expression on his face.

“We’re all old friends here, no need for such formalities!” Otis said as he smiled.

“Is Mr. Olsen still angry because of Nash?” Lloyd could not help but chuckle and ask when he saw the haughty expression on Bobby’s face.

“What do you mean by that?”

Bobby’s brows furrowed themselves together. He had no choice but to release Nash because the Northern Territory warden had ordered him to do so.

News of this had made its way across various departments in Capiton, and since he was the Third Elder of the National Martial Bureau, it embarrassed him immensely.

His mood had only improved slightly in the past two days because they had finally managed to stop the news from spreading further.

Was Tristan deliberately trying to upset him by bringing this up before himself and the National Martial Bureau’s elder?

Tristan seemed to realize he had misspoken, and hurriedly spoke apologetically, “I apologize for misspeaking, Mr. Olsen. Please do not hold this against me, a mere dean of the Special Security Department!”

Bobby was even more enraged by that, and he was just about to begin scolding Tristan when Otis gave him a look. “Mind your manners, Bobby!”
