As that one apprentice left, the other apprentices put away their wooden swords, clearly easing off their tension.
Frank chuckled. "Relaxing already? I might be planning a sneak attack, y'know."
The apprentices laughed. "We know our strength. You'd destroy us even if we went all out."
That left Lofty sweating down his brow.
These men were clearly apprentices and not Skywide School's main force, but they were powerful nonetheless.
It proved that they were a special bunch—or stronger than Lofty, at least.
Soon, Apoc—the apprentice who left earlier—was back, bowing his head at Frank. "If you'd follow me, sir!"
Frank followed him up the hill, soon arriving upon a villa built on top of it.
Countless fresh graves could be seen around the village—Larkin was definitely telling the truth that the Skywide School had a major turf war against the lotus sitter's gang.
As they entered the villa, Frank found a man sitting upon an armchair, having lost an arm, a leg, and an eye.
He was bandaged all over and was cringing into himself on the armchair, rasping for life.
"I apologize for my sorry state," he said, though he was sweating at the sight of Frank's might—a stark contrast against his own miserable self.
Frank chuckled, shaking his head. "The world can go on without me, but not people like you. You tried despite knowing that the odds were against you, and that makes you a good man. Lugh Frankton, at your service!"
"Lugh Frankton?"
The man's eyes lit up, as the name was vaguely familiar. "Just call me Hilarion!"
Frank nodded. "I've dealt with the lotus sitter and his ilk. Don't worry."
Hilarion appeared stunned, but only for a moment. "Congratulations!"
He could see that Frank really had the power and therefore was not all that shocked.
Frank shook his head. "That's unnecessary. Now, may I ask for a favor in return?"
"For sure!" Hilarion nodded. "But how can I help, when you can do anything you want?"
Frank pointed at Larkin and told Hilarion about what had happened to Larkin's wife.
Hilarion nodded again and turned toward Apoc, who quickly left and returned, carrying a body.
"The brat really had a short fuse, taking a life just because of a couple of grating words."
Hilarion then snapped his fingers, and Apoc took out a phone and played a video. "Don't think I'd just pick up a corpse to be the scapegoat—it's the new age as they say, and evidence matters."
The more Larkin watched, the more devastated he was.
Thud!
Eventually, he dropped to his knees, bawling.
