Lucy—or Skyler Dawn, to be precise—suddenly appeared to be a cold killer instead of an average office lady.
Her expression was icy, and even the air around her seemed to turn cool.
"You're Skyler Dawn, Gandon's most famous assassin and adept at disguises. Elusive, but also takes jobs from different clients, and recently came to obtain the power of the spiritron vein. Sounds about right?"
Skyler's expressions turned even colder as Frank had basically read her dossier. "I'm surprised you know me that well."
"True." Frank chuckled. "But did you really think that an ordinary office worker would insist on coming along when I said I'm going after Ghost?
"Also, when I was being swarmed, you were ready to abandon me and flee at any moment. It's just obvious that you're much stronger than they were."
"Heh."
Skyler whipped out a lipstick tube as she chuckled. "I'm an assassin. Only fools would fight those mooks."
"So? Why are you going after Ghost?"
"Sorry. Client confidentiality," Skyler replied bluntly even as she applied her lipstick.
"Right." Frank nodded. "But either way, someone is looking for him."
Skyler paused and said quietly, "Smart. Really can't breathe a word around you at all."
"Hold that thought. What's your opinion on the power of the spiritron vein?" Frank asked, glancing at her sideways.
"The power of the spiritron vein?"
Skyler giggled in disdain. "I have no use for it—never needed it even for missions."
Frank nodded again. "I can tell."
With that, neither spoke.
Skyler smiled, lighting up a cigarette for herself. "I know you, and I have seen you in action, Frank Lawrence. I won't lie—I'd never beat you.
"And you know women… It's like our mentality changes once we get up there in years. I thought I was strong when I was younger, that no man could ever interest me, but now I find myself searching for one who could offer me a sense of security.
"And for that, I think you're not a bad choice."
"Heh."
Frank chuckled—he was not naive enough to believe the words of a killer.
The ladies in the business were especially adept at lies and secrecy. Who could ever tell if she was lying?
Nonetheless, he asked, "What good would hiring you do for me?"
Skyler smiled devilishly. "What good, you ask? Tut, tut… How pragmatic. But I like that."
