"Ah!"
Sienna shrieked in agony as the heavy vase shattered against her skull, sending blood pouring down her face.
Cynthia jumped back in horror. "Sisi! Oh my god, how are you?! Get a doctor! Somebody call a doctor!"
Sienna's fragile constitution couldn't handle the blow, and she immediately collapsed into a dead faint. Total chaos erupted in the living room.
Winona exhaled a breath of relief. Thank God she grabbed a shield, or she would have been the one with a cracked skull.
Knowing Cynthia would likely launch into another unhinged frenzy once she recovered from the shock, Winona grabbed her keys and hurried out to her car.
Cynthia, whose health was already failing, took one look at the blood and promptly fainted from the sheer panic.
The villa descended into absolute pandemonium as both women were rushed to the hospital.
Sitting behind the steering wheel, Winona replayed the image of the vase smashing against Sienna's head. A euphoric sense of satisfaction bubbled up inside her.
Her phone buzzed. It was her best friend, Natalie King.
Natalie's voice crackled through the speaker, laced with amusement. "I was out of town for work for a few days, and suddenly you're dominating the headlines. It's been three years. Dinner? My treat."
Natalie was her former high school and college roommate. They had both majored in law at Capital University, and Natalie was now a high-powered attorney at a top firm.
Natalie had come from a small, rural town. From her first day of high school, she was relentlessly hardworking. Initially, she couldn't stand girls like Winona. Kids who did nothing but study rarely liked girls who exuded such effortless, radiant vitality. Winona was brilliant and vibrant, making the quiet bookworms feel dull and insecure.
Insecurity usually breeds hostility, but Natalie's hostility manifested as quiet avoidance.
Then came the class camping trip. Natalie was practically invisible in their class. If she hadn't boarded the bus, no one would have even noticed.
Her period had hit her out of nowhere, leaving her crippled with cramps. Realizing she had missed the bus and her phone was broken, she collapsed on the ground, crying hysterically. The pain was blinding, soaking her in cold sweat until she was on the verge of passing out. She didn't even have a pad.
Night fell over the mountain. She was terrified. She was in agonizing pain and completely alone.
