Jude crossed his legs, resting his chin in his hand, and narrowed his eyes. "Are your legs truly permanently damaged?"

Zachary didn't even spare him a glance. "Is your family going bankrupt?"

Jude chuckled and stood up. "If you weren't crippled, do you think I'd be loitering here on a workday? You literally fund the best orthopedic surgical team in Europe. Why haven't you flown them in? Are you actually trying to end up in a wheelchair permanently, or is this part of some twisted scheme?"

After tossing out the heavy accusation, he headed for the door, then paused and turned back. "Oh, by the way, that therapist you asked me to track down finally has an opening. He's flying into the country soon. You should carve out some time to see him."

"Thank you."

Zachary kept his eyes glued to the monitor, delivering the words with the mechanical precision of an android.

Jude smirked one last time before pulling the door open and exiting.

The second the door clicked shut, Zachary's fingers froze over the keyboard. He stared blankly at the screen, lost in a labyrinth of his own thoughts.

The golden hues of the setting sun poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows, bathing him in light. Yet, whatever warmth touched him seemed to instantly freeze over.

Meanwhile, after contacting the Lockwoods, Victoria had spent the entire afternoon pacing in sheer anxiety until Drake's younger sister, Vanessa Lockwood, finally agreed to intervene.

Vanessa was best friends with Sienna Shaw. She was intimately aware of Wesley's blind devotion to Sienna, and she knew that if Wesley went down, Sienna would be absolutely devastated.

Vanessa offered her comfort over the phone. "Aunt Victoria, I'll talk to my brother and make sure he bails Wesley out."
