Winona Wynn and Zachary Shaw novel CHAPTER 89 by Jade Emerson read online

He was waiting for her to make a scene like a lunatic and tear through the fragile illusion of peace between them.

He wanted to drive her crazy.

A chill ran through Winona. Aside from that, she couldn't fathom any other motive.

Zachary sat quietly. He wasn't typing anymore, his wrists completely rigid, looking as unapproachable as ever.

He was still wearing his impeccably tailored suit, waiting in silence. The glow from his laptop screen made him look even more devoid of emotion.

Winona took a sudden, deep breath, her tone entirely calm. "Since Sienna loves second-hand things so much, let her have it. It's late, Zach. I'm going upstairs to bed."

Second-hand things, naturally, included Zachary himself.

She delivered the line with breezy indifference, as if giving it away meant nothing to her.

She would demand both items back when they divorced anyway. There was no point in arguing over it now.

Perhaps it was her imagination, but for a split second, the aura around Zachary turned terrifying, like a brooding demon.

Winona furrowed her brow. When she looked again, he was back to his immovable, icy demeanor.

She walked upstairs, quietly steadying her emotions. Now was not the time for an outburst. Moving out to find a new place would be a hassle. At the very least, she needed to deal with The Vance Family and the online rumors first.

Years of experience had taught her that arguing with Zachary was entirely pointless.

She ignored him completely. They were both experts at pretending everything was fine, anyway.

She let out a yawn, genuinely feeling exhausted.

After taking a shower, she cuddled up with Bluebell and drifted off into a hazy sleep.

Downstairs, the living room lights were still on. Zachary had stopped typing and was just staring blankly at the laptop screen in front of him.

When Logan returned, he scanned the area. Confirming Winona was nowhere to be seen, he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Boss, the pendant has been delivered to Ms. Shaw. She was very happy."

Logan was genuinely baffled. What on earth was this man trying to do?

The boss had grown up with the boss's wife. Didn't he know what that jade pendant meant to her?

First, he gave away the relic the old lady had left for her, and now he was giving away the pendant she had kept with her since childhood.

Logan had been anxious the entire drive back, terrified the two of them would get into a physical fight, or that the boss's wife might stab the boss again.
