Winona Wynn and Zachary Shaw novel CHAPTER 91 by Jade Emerson read online

Early the next morning, Winona went to the TV station, briefed them on the interview's progress, and then started sorting through the intricate details of the Vance family's past.

Unfortunately, Valerie Carter's sudden death left few immediate clues, but Winona managed to dig up some useful information from one of Valerie's old friends.

A smile touched her lips just as her phone rang. It was Victoria Vance, and her tone was laced with threats.

Wesley's tearful complaints the night before had finally eased Victoria's lingering unease.

Now, her heart was filled entirely with worry for her youngest son and pure, unadulterated hatred for Winona.

"I heard an intern in your department ended up in the hospital?"

Winona knew a threat when she heard one. "Yes."

Victoria chuckled darkly on the other end. "Winona, didn't I tell you I'd make sure you couldn't sleep at night? You'd better watch your back, lest you lose your life. That intern was just a small appetizer. I'm afraid you won't be able to handle the main course."

"Ms. Vance, right before your sister died in that car crash, did she ever mention she was planning to elope with a man? Did she ask for your opinion? Don't you want to know who that man was?"

Victoria hadn't expected Winona to reach this far back, actually digging into events from over two decades ago.

What was this bitch trying to pull?

She furrowed her brow, assuming this was just another one of Winona's mind games, and refused to take the bait. "Winona, I don't care what lies you spin. I won't believe a word of it. You just wait for the retribution coming your way. It's too late to drop the lawsuit now. You offended the Vance family, and you're not walking away without losing a layer of skin."

Victoria was used to using her power to crush people. Over the years, she had cleaned up plenty of Wesley's messes this exact way.

Hearing the line go dead, Winona realized just how completely Victoria trusted Vincent Vance.

Victoria had been a stay-at-home socialite for years, her entire world revolving around her youngest son. She was so used to treating Vincent as the absolute pillar of the family that finding a breakthrough through her was practically impossible.

Unless she caught Vincent in bed with another woman, it was a dead end. But Vincent was cunning. Even though he had cheated on Victoria with her own sister, Valerie, he had genuinely loved Valerie. After Valerie's death, Vincent cut ties with all his mistresses and coaxed Victoria into quitting her job to stay home and raise Wesley.
