The man became upset. He stood over the body and said angrily to Pearl, "My mom died because of your medicine. I won't let you near her!"
"How could I harm a dead body in front of everyone? I'm a doctor, and everyone knows that. But you're so against me checking the body. What are you hiding?" Pearl replied. She looked past him and noticed something unusual under the white cloth covering the body. She suspected the person might still be alive.
"What are you saying? You all caused my mom's death. Shouldn't you be explaining and paying for this? Instead, you're obsessing over the body. Are you afraid I'm lying?" the man retorted. In anger, he kicked a box nearby. "I'll be right here, and I'll stop anyone who tries to touch my mom's body!"
Pearl frowned. Normally, she could handle him, but she had to be careful because she was pregnant. She tried to keep him calm, worried he might do something drastic.
Just then, an unexpected person arrived. "You're a man. But instead of solving the problem, you're here harassing a woman. Interesting!"
Pearl turned to see who it was and saw Luther. Confused, she asked, "Luther, what are you doing here?"
Luther smiled and came over. "Remember our deal? I was supposed to meet you about that partnership. But what bad timing you've got!" He then whispered, "I think he's not here for justice. He's just trying to cause trouble."
Pearl nodded. "I know." She had guessed the man had other reasons for his actions.
Luther just laughed—it wasn't often someone called him a 'pretty boy.' Despite his smile, Luther's mood had shifted.
"You're a disgrace," the man spat out. "Following a woman around like a dog."
His annoyance grew when Luther kept staring at him. "Stop staring. Haven't you ever—"
Luther cut him off with a punch to the face.
