Esther knew James wasn't going to save her. She had said some really harsh things to him; most people wouldn't stick around after that.

Feeling let down, Esther quickly thought of what to do next. Just as a man reached out to touch her face with his chubby hand, Esther held back her revulsion and bit him.

"Ouch! You b*tch! How dare you bite me! You'll regret this!" Angry, the man ripped her shirt.

But before he could go any further, someone grabbed his hand and twisted it behind his back. He winced from the pain.

Looking up, he saw James holding his hand. Scared, he asked, "Who are you? Why are you meddling?"

James looked over at Esther, who was shaking uncontrollably nearby. Seeing her like that made his heart ache, and his gaze turned icy. "You're bullying my woman, and you're asking me why I'm interfering?"

Even though the man felt embarrassed, he stubbornly retorted, "No, you're just sticking your nose where it doesn't belong. Do you know who I am? You'll be sorry if you mess with me!"

James let out a short laugh, crisp in the quiet night. "Are you threatening me?"

"How dare you!" was all the man could say, too scared to talk back because of James' sudden boldness.

A wise man knows when he's outmatched. Realizing he was in over his head, he fell to his knees. "I'm sorry. I didn't realize who you were and I offended you. Please let me go."

James released him and pulled out a handkerchief to wipe his hands. Then, he tossed it at the man's face in disgust. "It's gross having to touch you."
