Esther didn't want to deal with her annoying brother, so she just rolled her eyes and glared at him.

"Listen. James did a lot to win you over. He even bribed me. Should I tell him you went on a blind date?"

Esther gritted her teeth. "What do you mean, Tyler?"

"Don't worry, I didn't mean it that way. Just saying." Even though Tyler often spoke harshly, he wisely stopped talking about it when he saw Esther was getting really upset. "Okay, relax. I'll tell you who your blind date is this afternoon. What do you think?"

Esther responded grumpily, "I'm listening."

"Finnegan."

Hearing that name shocked Esther. She hadn't heard anything about him in the last five years.

She had stubbornly ignored Finnegan and went back to her home country to see James. But she was too scared to meet him, worried he might be angry. Eventually, they lost touch.

How could it be him?

Tyler clicked his tongue. "Didn't see that coming. Everyone has to face the consequences of their mistakes. Looks like there's going to be some drama."

Esther didn't argue back, which was unusual for her. She just went to wash up and headed back to her room.

Finnegan... Esther couldn't figure out her feelings about him. It was just too complex.

Suddenly, she regretted agreeing so quickly to her father's request earlier without asking more about it. But now, it was too late to back out. She had to prepare herself to meet Finnegan.

Orson Fox, Finnegan's father, greeted Jasper with a smile and a hug. "Yes, I've been busy with my business overseas and hardly ever come back. Just got back this time and planning to stay for good. We should catch up over some drinks soon."

"That sounds great!"

Jasper and Orson were soon deep in conversation, seemingly oblivious to the awkward tension between the younger ones.

Jasper assumed they were just shy with the parents around, so he gave Orson a knowing look. "Orson, I've got a bottle of wine in my car. How about we go grab it?"

"Sure, there's a lot we need to catch up on," Orson replied.

Their lively chat continued as they left, leaving Esther and Finnegan alone, facing each other. Neither of them made a move to break the silence.
