After going over her memories, Esther looked up at the emotionless man across from her, feeling touched.

"You don't need to worry about the past anymore. I've moved past it, so you can go on with your life," she told him.

Esther realized that the past was like a dark cloud over him, which was why he stayed by her side without conditions. And that was why she acted so freely around him.

"I'm happy you've moved on, but I still won't drink." It wasn't about the past. He simply hadn't drunk in so long that he forgot what it felt like, and it didn't matter to him anymore whether he drank or not.

Esther nodded, even though she didn't quite understand. "Then, you're driving tonight."

Esther started drinking one glass after another. Finnegan was glad he chose not to drink.

As the night went on, some men looked at Esther in a way that Finnegan didn't like, and a few even tried to flirt with her, but he sent them packing.

Sometimes, women approached and tried to flirt with him, but he turned them away too. He stayed close to Esther all night.

Esther didn't handle her drinks well and became quite a handful when drunk. After her fourth or fifth glass, her cheeks turned rosy, spreading down her neck out of sight.

She then giggled and fell into his arms, tugging at his ears as if they were made of rubber. "You're so cute."

Even though her behavior was a bit over the top and Finnegan wanted to gently remove her arms from around his neck, he couldn't help but find her endearing when she called him cute in her gentle voice. He found her flirting quite charming.
