Holly could see from the look in Pearl's eyes that she was in trouble. She wasn't sure what to do besides beg for mercy and try to smile her way out of the situation.

Pearl looked surprised. "What misunderstanding? That's not what you said earlier."

"It's all just a big misunderstanding. We were joking around, it wasn't bullying. I accidentally dropped my cup."

Even though her story had changed from before, Holly felt trapped with everyone watching her. She knew she had to take responsibility or she would be the one facing consequences. She regretted making Esther angry.

Pearl wasn't convinced by Holly's attempt to play the victim. "So, you're saying this was just a misunderstanding, but you blew it out of proportion and even tried to blame Esther, right?"
