Another decade flew by.
After starting high school, Joelle began to understand the differences between men and women. This made her relationship with Darius awkward.
She asked Darius to stop driving her to and from school when she was in the second year of middle school. Luckily, Darius had graduated from college and was busy with work. They only greeted each other occasionally, so it didn't affect her much.
Joelle tore off a piece of bread, her thoughts scattered. When she looked at the clock, she realized she was going to be late. She held the bread in her mouth, grabbed her backpack, and rushed downstairs.
When she stepped out of the house, she saw a familiar car.
The black Maybach looked expensive but not flashy. It was different from Dante's car. He always drove a flashy pink Ferrari. When he passed by, he would kick up a dust cloud and leave her looking messy.
A tall, slim figure got out of the car. Joelle blinked and asked, "Ken, are you here to drive me to school again today?"
They went to the same school and were in the same department. Their houses were nearby, so it was convenient for him to drive her. Besides, they were close friends and could look out for each other.
Kendric smiled and nodded, signaling Joelle to get into the car.
He was generally cold to everyone except Joelle, and he always smiled at her. But Joelle knew he treated her like a sister. He was like Darius in that way.
Joelle smiled back and then she brushed past him and opened the back door. When she saw someone sitting in the car, her face fell.
'Oh, no.' She felt numb.
