Richard nodded. "Yeah, the whole family knows you're my wife, so you can't refuse. You're coming to live with me from tonight."

"Do I have to sleep in the same bed with you?"

Richard chuckled. "If you don't want to, you don't have to."

"Can I say no? I don't want to go there." After a moment of thought, Pearl found the situation surreal and not entirely to her liking.

"I'll move in with you."

Richard's gaze softened at her words. "I wouldn't bully her."

"Hey, I'm talking to my daughter-in-law. Don't interrupt," Susan joked, making Pearl feel like she was truly her daughter.

Pearl burst into laughter. "Aunt Susan, stop teasing him. What if he takes it seriously and runs away from home?"

"Just let him go. I've got a lovely daughter-in-law now. I don't care. You know, I've always wanted a daughter…"
