Yet somehow, two men with such drastically different personalities were best friends.
Zachary's car hadn't pulled away yet; they were clearly waiting for someone.
Silas instinctively glanced at Winona, a calculating look flashing through his eyes.
A moment later, the car door swung open. Jude stepped out, flashing a charming smile at Silas and Holly. "Thank you both for looking out for Winona, but I need to borrow her for a bit."
Holly's cheeks flushed with anxiety. "Her hands need medical attention immediately! Can't whatever you need wait until tomorrow?!"
Silas abruptly grabbed Holly's arm, dragging her toward his own vehicle.
Panicking, Holly tried to protest, but Silas cut her off. "You don't belong in their world. You're just an intern right now. I promised to get you through your probationary period safely. Don't start trouble."
Silas was her boss, after all. Having secured his executive position before hitting forty, he was a shrewd and calculating man.
Holly clamped her mouth shut and let herself be pushed into the car.
A few feet away, Jude's lips curled into a smirk. "Your husband seems to have been drugged. Probably Jeffrey's handiwork. Want to hop in and be his antidote?"
He said it so casually, as if commenting on the pleasant weather.
Winona figured this guy had to be out of his mind. She brushed past him. "Get the hell out of my way."
Jude scoffed, stepping squarely into her path. "It's a very potent drug. If you don't get in that car, I'm wheeling him right back into the Wynn mansion. I'm pretty sure Sienna is awake by now. I'll just deliver them straight to the bridal chamber."
Winona let out a humorless laugh. "Be my guest."
Without missing a beat, she walked toward Silas's car and pulled the door open.
Her palms were completely coated in blood, inevitably smearing crimson across the handle. "I'm so sorry, Mr. Chandler. I'll pay for the car wash tomorrow. Please, just get me to the hospital."
Her hands desperately needed stitches. If she kept bleeding like this, she'd pass out from blood loss.
Silas instinctively looked past her, meeting Jude's gaze in the distance.
