Jude backed off, sighing dramatically. "Based on your reaction, whatever you took wasn't standard street trash. A lowlife like Jeffrey couldn't have gotten his hands on this. Something about this whole setup feels extremely sketchy. Want me to look into it?"
Zachary leaned his head back against the seat. His Adam's apple bobbed multiple times as he fought to maintain control. "No."
Jude hopped into the driver's seat. Just as he was about to hit the gas, a member of the Wynn household staff rushed out. "Mr. Shaw, Cynthia is asking for you inside."
Cynthia and Arthur had stayed behind to check on Claire, who had fainted and was resting upstairs.
Jude raised an eyebrow, a smirk slowly forming on his lips. Ignoring Zachary's murderous glare, he wheeled him straight out of the car. "Perfect. Which room is Sienna staying in? I'll just drop him off there to rest. He's feeling a little under the weather."
Hearing that Zachary was unwell, the staff member didn't dare dawdle and quickly led the way.
The grand hall had been cleared out, save for the cleaning staff scrubbing away the remnants of the chaos. Everyone else had moved to the second floor.
Word had it that Sienna had woken up, but she was deeply shaken and wanted to be left alone.
Quentin, Drake, and the rest of the younger crowd had already departed, leaving only the elders gathered in Claire's bedroom.
Although Claire wasn't physically injured, her emotional state was completely shattered. It took two rounds of doctors to finally revive her.
She looked thoroughly exhausted. The second she opened her eyes, her hoarse voice croaked out, "What happened downstairs?"
Quincy quickly recounted the aftermath. Claire looked as if she had been struck by lightning. She collapsed back into her pillows, burying her face in her hands. "I was wrong. I was so completely wrong. You can't have it both ways, and I was foolish enough to think I could. I was too greedy."
Quincy assumed she had finally come to her senses, fully realizing Winona's true, malicious nature.
Cynthia chimed in from the side. "Claire, Sienna is such a sweet, wonderful girl. Stop torturing yourself over this."
