Sienna looked like she had just arrived. When she saw Cynthia, a flicker of pleasant surprise crossed her eyes. "Mom... Cynthia."

Cynthia's mood brightened instantly. She stepped forward and linked her arm through Sienna's. "You were hurt so badly last night. Why on earth are you at work today?"

Sienna was actually supposed to meet Cleo at a cafe nearby, but she intentionally took a detour through the network lobby. She wanted everyone who had been at the banquet to see how exhausted and fragile she looked.

She had even applied makeup specifically designed to make her look pitiful and heartbreaking.

"I just came to grab a few things and then I'm leaving. I heard Winona got promoted, so I picked up a gift for her on the way."

Talk about touching a nerve.

Cynthia patted the back of her hand, sighing in frustration at the girl's endless grace. "You sweet child, why are you so kind? She almost got you killed last night, and you're buying her a gift? Do you even know how she got that promotion? That little slut slept her way to the top!"

Realizing how inappropriate her outburst sounded, Cynthia reigned it in, but she couldn't hide her disgust.

Sienna gasped, covering her mouth in perfect, exaggerated shock, as if she couldn't believe her ears.

Cynthia scoffed coldly. "I guess you haven't heard. She's cheating on Zach. Sienna, I already called him and told him to meet me at the courthouse. I'm here to drag Winona there myself."

Sienna's fingers curled into her palms in pure excitement, a hidden smile dancing on her lips. But she forced a deeply worried look onto her face. "Cynthia... back when Zach tried to break up with her, she threatened to kill herself every single time. I really don't think she's going to agree to go."

Cynthia marched straight toward the elevators. "She doesn't have a choice!"

A team of intimidating bodyguards filed in behind her.

Since Sienna was heading to the Interview Department to deliver her "gift," and Cynthia was hunting down Winona, they rode up together.

Upstairs, the Deputy Director's office was being cleared out.

Winona stood by the door, instructing the movers to trash everything that belonged to Harvey Shelton and bring in fresh furniture, completely expensed by Silas Chandler.

As her future superior, Silas was acting aggressively accommodating.

She played dumb, acting oblivious to the deep, toxic agenda behind the gesture, and calmly accepted it all.

She was genuinely curious to see what Silas's shadowy backer planned to do next now that she was in this seat.

Winona was absolutely certain Silas was taking orders from whoever orchestrated this promotion.
