Sienna genuinely hadn't expected the story to take such a dramatic turn.
Suddenly, she didn't regret reconnecting with Cleo one bit. It looked like there was a very entertaining show on the horizon.
If Winona's only friend in the world was being played for a fool, potentially losing her mind over a man's betrayal, how would Winona react?
Just picturing the fallout made a thrill of anticipation run through Sienna.
She stared at her coffee, her tone impossibly gentle. "Cleo, is that man treating you well?"
Cleo adopted the smug posture of a woman holding all the cards. "He'd rather suffer himself than let me experience a single ounce of hardship abroad. He exhausted himself building my marketing team from the ground up to get me where I am today. All his money and energy revolve around me. I know he loves me, but he doesn't dare dump Natalie right now. She stuck by him through eight grueling years, and everyone in his corporate team knows their history. Sienna, don't you think Natalie is just pathetic? Even her enemies would feel bad for her at this point, haha."
She laughed brazenly, looking every bit the triumphant victor.
A smile curled on Sienna's lips. She was now absolutely certain that Cleo could be very useful to her.
Her demeanor softened even further. "Cleo, it's been so long since we last saw each other. We really need to meet up more often."
Cleo hadn't expected Sienna to actively pursue a friendship. A flash of joy crossed her eyes. "I'd love that."
But Sienna wasted no time cutting to her true motive. "You saw how Winona treated me at the banquet last night. Natalie is her best friend, and I don't want Natalie to have a happy life. If you can help me with this, I might be able to put in a good word for you regarding the Lockwood family's situation."
Cleo's greatest desire in life was to be welcomed back into the Lockwood family fold. Sienna's offer struck the very core of what she wanted.
She took a sharp breath, nodded fervently, and made her promise. "Don't you worry. I will make sure Natalie's life becomes a living hell. I play her boyfriend like a dog, and she's stuck clinging to a stray that doesn't even want her. If I were her, I'd jump off a bridge out of pure embarrassment."
Sienna lowered her head, a venomous smile dancing in her eyes.
Oh, Winona. Just as I thought, anyone who gets close to you is destined for misery.
