Reginald slowly set his teacup down on the coffee table. He didn't raise his voice, yet the sheer pressure radiating from him was suffocating.
Zachary had been personally groomed by Reginald since childhood. Truthfully, Cynthia's role as his mother had been minimal compared to the hands-on guidance of the family patriarch.
"Cynthia, how about you take over commanding the Shaw family from now on?"
Cynthia jolted, thoroughly caught off guard by his aggressive sarcasm.
A cold sweat broke out across her forehead as she sat there, squirming like she was on pins and needles.
Reginald stood up, his tone remaining effortlessly calm. "Whoever caused the mess is responsible for cleaning it up. Until Zachary's legs are fully healed, Winona can forget about walking away."
"But Dad, doesn't that play right into her hands? She's completely obsessed with Zach and refuses to let this divorce happen. I tried to force her to City Hall today, and she ran off. My men are still out there looking for her! She's a leech, planning to cling to Zach for the rest of her life!"
Reginald ignored her outburst entirely and turned to head upstairs.
Pushed to the brink of desperation, Cynthia yelled, "She cheated on him! She's sleeping with another man, and now everyone in our social circle knows about it! If we keep damaged goods like her around, Zach will be the laughingstock of high society every time he leaves the house! The heir to the Shaw family should be untouchable! Since when do we let outsiders gossip about us, especially over a filthy woman?"
Reginald stopped in his tracks, his brow furrowing deeply. He turned back to look at her. "What did you say?"
It seemed he wasn't aware of the cheating scandal yet.
Cynthia exhaled a quiet sigh of relief. This kind of behavior was absolutely forbidden within the Shaw family. The family had always operated on absolute power and strict patriarchy—men conquered the business world, while women were expected to manage the household and remain fiercely loyal.
Scarlett Shaw was an incredibly capable woman, but even she had compromised her career for the sake of her family. If she hadn't, her corporate ascent would have been unstoppable.
Cynthia herself had transitioned into a full-time housewife immediately after marriage, dedicating her life solely to revolving around Arthur.
A man's success required a woman's sacrifice. That was the unspoken, unbending rule.
