Sienna Shaw went upstairs and burst into tears the second she saw Zachary Shaw. "Zachary, how are you feeling?"
The villa's doctor had arrived ten minutes prior and was setting up an IV for him.
Zachary kept his eyes closed the entire time, seemingly resting.
Dr. Harrison inserted the needle carefully, making sure to avoid any unnecessary physical contact.
Once he was certain the IV was flowing properly, he breathed a sigh of relief. "Mr. Shaw, you need to rest. Do you want me to change the dressings on your legs?"
The room was dead quiet. Whenever Zachary was around, people unconsciously softened their movements.
Dr. Harrison even assumed he had fallen asleep when he didn't reply right away.
Fortunately, Sienna rushed in at that exact moment, tears clinging to her eyelashes, looking perfectly fragile.
Zachary slowly opened his eyes and answered the doctor. "No need. Logan Quinn will handle the dressing changes."
Dr. Harrison nodded and gave his final instructions. "I've reviewed your charts with the hospital. If you feel any discomfort at all, let me know immediately. Your legs require absolute rest right now. You absolutely cannot get up."
"Hmm."
As soon as the doctor left, Sienna sat on the edge of the bed. "How did you suddenly get a fever? You terrified me."
She instinctively reached for his hand resting on the blanket, but stopped when she saw the IV needle taped to the back of it.
She pulled her hand back halfway, her gaze drifting to the wedding photo on the nightstand.
She flipped the frame face down and pouted in feigned anger. "Winona didn't come to see you? And here I was, hoping you two would reconcile. I'm so disappointed."
Zachary kept his eyes shut, looking utterly exhausted.
Sienna considerately lit some aromatherapy. "This scent is meant to help you sleep. Get some rest, Zachary."
Zachary didn't respond, apparently already asleep.
Sienna sat in the quiet room, her eyes hungrily tracing the lines of his face.
Even with crippled legs, Zachary Shaw was still the most elite man in their social circle.
She clenched her fists. The first time she saw him after being brought into the Shaw family at age seven, she knew this man belonged to her.
