Logan was floored. Years ago, a stab wound had nearly sent his boss to the grave, yet Zachary had marched into the office the very day after waking up.
And now, he wanted to work from home?
It seemed the reality of his crippled legs was taking a massive psychological toll on him.
He just wasn't the type to talk about it.
A short distance away, Winona deliberately walked an extra block before catching a cab to the TV station.
Everyone at the station recognized her face, so from the moment she stepped out of the cab, passersby kept throwing her second glances.
Just as she was about to enter the lobby, a disheveled figure lunged from behind a pillar, brandishing a knife.
"Winona, you bitch! I'll kill you! I'll kill you!"
Winona instinctively raised her arms to block the attack. But Mandy Abbott was incredibly fast; she had probably been staking out the entrance for hours.
The sickening sound of a blade piercing flesh echoed as Winona delivered a swift kick, sending her attacker stumbling backward.
The knife remained lodged firmly in her shoulder. Winona winced, her brows pulling together as she stared down the hysterical Mandy.
"You ruined me, Winona! You destroyed my life, and now I'm going to end yours! I'll never let you live in peace!"
Mandy prepared to charge again, her bloodshot eyes proving she hadn't slept in days.
Winona clutched her bleeding shoulder and shot a glare at the paralyzed security guards nearby. "What the hell are you waiting for?"
Snapping out of their daze, the guards rushed forward, pinning Mandy by both arms.
Mandy thrashed like a trapped beast, her eyes locked onto Winona with a murderous rage that suggested she wanted to tear her limb from limb.
