Claire pressed her lips together, looking disheartened. She wanted to call Winona to talk, but Winona had long since blocked all of their numbers.

She sighed, unable to stop herself from lecturing Julian. "Watch your mouth. She's still your sister, after all."

"I don't have a sister like her! Sienna is my only sister! She's nothing but a stray!"

Julian's words were sharp as daggers. He stormed into the house, every step radiating fury.

Sienna immediately went to comfort Claire. "Mom, please don't tell Winona what I said earlier. She gets so triggered just hearing my name, and then she'll accuse you of playing favorites again."

Before Sienna's true identity as the Wynn heiress was discovered, Winona had accused Claire of favoritism on multiple occasions. "If I didn't know better, I'd think Sienna was your biological daughter. If you love her that much, just tell the Shaws you want to adopt her."

It had been said in a moment of pure anger, because that day was Sienna's birthday—and also Winona's.

But Claire, Quincy, and Julian had all been invited to Sienna's lavish birthday party. It seemed everyone had completely forgotten about Winona's special day.

When the family finally returned home that night, they found Winona sitting in the living room, completely drenched, looking as though she had been waiting for hours.

She was staring blankly at a small cake, lost in thought.

That day was Winona's eighteenth birthday.

Sienna had a magnificent banquet meticulously planned by the Shaws, with the Wynns invited as guests. Amidst the bustling celebration, Sienna was the little princess surrounded by stars.

But Winona had nothing. She had been out of town with friends, but upon remembering her birthday, she rushed back overnight. Terrified of letting her family down, she bought her own cake and even practiced her apologies before walking through the door.

But no one was home to greet her.

It made her frantic journey back feel like a cruel joke.

She had shielded the cake all the way, getting thoroughly soaked in the rain, but her heart had been light—because she was finally an adult.
