Her tone was laced with helplessness, betraying her lingering internal conflict.
Meanwhile, Zachary had arrived at the office. Reaching for his backup laptop to transfer some data, he finally realized he had left his primary one at the villa.
Logan noticed as well and once again skirted the edge of danger. "Mrs. Shaw is at home. Should I ask her to bring it over?"
He sneaked a glance at Zachary. Seeing no objection, he immediately called Winona.
"Mrs. Shaw, yes, the laptop on the coffee table belongs to the boss. It contains critical data we need right now. Could you bring it to the office?"
Winona frowned. She had just gotten home, still fuming over the incident in the private room.
Moreover, her only goal coming back this time was to secure the divorce and leave. She had zero interest in running errands for Zachary.
She gently rubbed her bruised forehead, the pain forcing her to apply an ice pack.
As for the cut on the back of her hand, she haphazardly slapped a bandage over it.
But Logan's next words left her no room to refuse. "A multinational conference is starting shortly. It would take too long for me to drive back, and the boss is hoping to clear his backlog before tomorrow morning."
The implication was clear: it might delay their trip to City Hall.
Winona stood up immediately, grabbed the laptop from the table, and drove over.
When she arrived, she noticed the statue in the planter outside the entrance had changed. She called Logan. "I'm here. I'll wait for you downstairs."
Logan stole another glance at Zachary, utterly incapable of reading the man's mind. "Mrs. Shaw, I'll send the receptionist down to get you. It's highly sensitive equipment, so it's best you bring it up yourself."
Since she was already there, Winona didn't mind making the trip upstairs.
But shortly after, the front desk manager personally came upstairs, her demeanor highly respectful. "Mr. Shaw, Mr. Quinn, we didn't see Mrs. Shaw outside the building."
