Wesley Vance impulsively acted on anything involving her.
Sienna Shaw pointed, and Wesley attacked; he was a convenient weapon in her hand.
Plus, Wesley's position was more than just a mere director.
"Wesley is just like that," Sienna said, her face the picture of gentle concern. "I've told him so many times not to be so reckless, but he never listens to me."
Winona Wynn couldn't be bothered with her fake act and turned to walk toward the reception desk.
But Sienna quickly closed the distance. "Don't you feel pathetic? You lost the baby, and you actually think Zachary will keep putting up with you? Three years ago, he confided in me that this marriage to you was utterly suffocating."
Winona nodded thoughtfully, and in the next second, she raised her hand and slapped Sienna across the face. "I've wanted to do that for a long time."
Sienna's head snapped to the side, a red handprint blooming on her cheek.
Her eyes instantly welled with tears as she looked past Winona's shoulder, playing the pitiful victim. "Winona, I know my existence has always bothered you, which is why you refused to attend the Wynn family dinner tonight, leaving Zachary to bring the gifts all by himself. Mom kept asking about you, and everyone just assumed you were sick. I swear to God, I have never had any inappropriate feelings for Zachary. You're completely misunderstanding me."
She covered her cheek, lowering her lashes as tears spilled over. "Besides, Mom's health hasn't been great these past few years. I didn't change my last name to Wynn because I was waiting for you to come back so we could all sit down and talk about it properly."
Winona replied coldly, "Fine. Swear to God, then. If you have feelings for Zachary Shaw, may your entire family drop dead."
Sienna stiffened, barely keeping her mask from slipping.
A voice rang out from behind Winona. "Winona, don't you think you're being a little too vicious?"
Winona turned slowly and saw Zachary's mother, Cynthia Shaw—her current mother-in-law on paper.
Although she and Zachary were childhood sweethearts, the Wynn family was nowhere near the Shaw family's social standing. Because of this, Cynthia had always despised her, and she never bothered to hide it. Everyone in the Shaw family felt that Winona was holding Zachary back; otherwise, he could have married a girl from a proper, equivalent background.
Because of that, marrying into the Shaw family had felt like walking on eggshells for Winona.
She used to wake up at six to help the staff with breakfast, wait on his grandmother at eight, drop off the youngest Shaw kids at school at nine, and she wouldn't catch a break until noon.
At seven in the evening, his grandmother needed to watch the news, and at nine, Cynthia did her facial yoga.
Winona had run herself ragged revolving around all of them.
