"Cough, cough."

He coughed violently a few times; his fever clearly hadn't broken.

Winona frowned and unceremoniously showed him the door. "Don't infect me."

In the past, a single cough from him would have kept her up all night with worry.

Meanwhile, once Natalie confirmed that Winona was safe, she set her phone down and rubbed her strained eyes.

The legal profession was far less glamorous than outsiders imagined. Dealing with bizarre clients and modest legal fees meant she had to hustle constantly to make a living. She lived frugally, refusing to spend over fifty dollars on a purse, all just to afford a home in this concrete jungle.

Thankfully, her dream was finally within reach. She had already found the perfect neighborhood.

The front door opened, signaling the return of her boyfriend, Luke Wilder.
